CNSF Teams Up With Star City Soccer Foundation

Networking through the Urban Soccer Collaborative

CNSF Program Director Larry Paul met Star City Soccer Foundation’s Landon Moore at the Urban Soccer Collaboratives Youth Leadership Workshop in Washington, D.C. "I was at the field watching our candidates go through some activities when Landon introduced himself. He has a fascinating story about what he’s doing in the Roanoke Virginia area with recent refugee’s. I was able to meet a couple there right at the course. After comparing notes we found common ground on helping young people develop leadership skills through soccer and agreed to keep in touch. It was shortly after that he contacted me about helping Nathaniel to attend a coaching course back home. Of course we were interested and see a bright future working with the Star City Soccer Foundation."

"Larry, thank you to CNSF for funding Nathaniel Scere’s NSCAA course. He really enjoyed it and wants to continue with coaching education. It helped him in many other ways too. I attached a little write up and a picture of Nathaniel in case you want to put something on the CNSF website."

Nathaniel Scere, a 19 year old from Liberia, completed the NSCAA Advanced Regional course this weekend in Roanoke, VA. The recent graduate of William Fleming High School is attending Virginia Western Community College with plans of transferring and continuing his playing career in 2010. Until then, he is focusing on academics, training on his own, and using the coaching skills he has learned by coaching youths in his community. Nathaniel was sponsored by the Star City Soccer Foundation with funding provided by CNSF.
