Street Soccer, An Introduction To Small-Sided Games
Presentation of the Chris Nedelcovych Soccer Foundation.
Hosted by Larry Paul
Running time 90 minutes.
BY Andy Nelson
This 90 minute DVD is a comprehensive guide of how to utilize many different types of small-sided
games to develop young players. For a coach with less than five years of experience coaching at the youth level, and with a D license or below, this could be a very informative DVD. It will help you develop your own games - and re-create games - that could be highly enjoyable and instructive for your team/players.
"Street Soccer" describes the benefits of small sided games (SSG); compares the SSG to the real game; lists what the elements of SSG are, and how they can be manipulated to bring out different emphasis for the players; lists several different types of SSG; demonstrates how a coach should plan a practice; discusses the "stages of learning" that players go through during a season and practice; and finishes up with tips on coaching SSG. Street Soccer also comes with a small fold-out pamphlet which describes 26 of the games in the DVD.
MASS Youth would recommend this video for any town or club coach who has not had the opportunity to work consistently with an A licensed coach, or an Advanced National Diploma Coach.
